Bongdong Valley

Bongdong Valley in Hyeonsan-myeon, on the slopes of Mt. Duryun, is a resort area long loved by local residents and a well-known summer swimming spot in Gusugol, Haenam County. A check dam built to block the stream serves as a swimming area, pavilions and wooden platforms (pyeongsang) provide places to rest, and a dense forest for forest bathing lines the stream. Entry is free but parking costs apply, and the facility fees are not a burden after swimming; without using the facilities, parking is 3,000 won. It operates temporarily only in July and August, and it lies on the "Mountain Trail Overlooking the Sea" course, where hikers sometimes rest with their feet in the water. Shaded rest areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and changing rooms, restrooms, showers and sinks behind the parking lot are kept clean since the site is run by a youth association.
