About

Daegwang Beach, on the west side of Imjado Island, is the longest and widest beach in Korea, with a sandy shore about 12 km long and over 300 m wide. It became known after the bridge connecting Muan and Sinan counties was completed and a ferry began running between Jido-eup and Imjado. Its gentle slope, warm water, and wide sand, along with a large campsite on natural grass, sports facilities, showers, parking, and accommodations, make it suitable for families, youth camps, and group camping. It has hosted an annual beach horse riding competition since 2008, and a government-built riding training ground was added in 2009. The beach also holds Blue Flag certification, which recognizes clean beaches that meet more than 100 criteria for safety, environment, and water quality.
